The UV power (254 nm) of low-pressure amalgam lamps is three to four times higher than that of standard mercury vapor lamps. The special internal protective coating of mercury UV lamps increases the service life to 16,000 hours or more, which is significantly higher than the average operating time of standard mercury vapor lamps.
